Shirakawa-go
Shirakawa is a village located in Gifu Prefecture. It is best known for being the site of Shirakawa-go, a small, traditional village declared a UNESCO world heritage site in 1995, they are famous for their traditional gassho-zukuri farmhouses, some of which are more than 250 years old.
Ogimachi Village
Ogimachi (荻町) is the largest village and main attraction of Shirakawa-go. Declared a UNESCO world heritage site in 1995, the village is home to several dozen well preserved gassho-zukuri farmhouses, some of which are more than 250 years old.
Shiroyama Viewpoint
The Shiroyama Viewpoint is north of the village center and offers nice views of Ogimachi and its farmhouses.
Ogimachi Castle Ruins Observatory
Ogimachi Castle was a typical mountain castle of medieval times which was built on a high hill in Ogimachi. The castle was owned by Yamashita Ujikatsu, a subordinate of Uchigashima Tameuji, the landlord of Hida 400 years ago.
Shirakawago Gassho Zukuri Minkaen
This open air museum lies across the river from the village center, exhibits farmhouses and other structures relocated to Ogimachi in order to save them from destruction.
Gasshozukuri Minkaen Outdoor Museum
In 1968, the residents of the Kazura district were looking to sell and relocate some gassho style houses outside of their village. The opportunity to acquire unwanted gassho style houses led to their being relocated and reconstructed here, where they now serve as an open-air museum.
Deai-Bashi Suspension Bridge
This bridge, serving as the entrance to the wonderful main village, it is also a place where you can enjoy one of the best sceneries of the area.
Doburoku Festival Museum
This museum has displays on the Doburoku Festival held every year on October 14th and 15th.
Fukube no Otaki Waterfall
Fukube Falls is a waterfall that is on the Hakusan Shirakawa-go White Road. The waterfall drop distance is 86m, the largest of its type in the Jatani Valley. Alongside other waterfalls such as Ubaga-taki, Akaseki-no-taki, Shiritaka-no-taki and 4 other waterfalls, it is known as one of the “8 Sights of Jatani”.
Gokayama Ainokura Village
Set far back in the valley, Ainokura (相倉) is the most remote village in the Gokayama region. It is also the largest of the villages with nearly 20 gassho-zukuri farmhouses. Many of them remain private residences, although a few have been converted into restaurants, museums, and minshuku.

Gokayama is an area within the city of Nanto in Toyama Prefecture, Japan. It has been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List due to its traditional gasshō-zukuri houses, alongside nearby Shirakawa-gō in Gifu Prefecture.
