Tokushima

Tokushima is located on Shikoku Island, the capital city of Tokushima Prefecture. It is most famous for the Awa Odori Festival, a dance festival held in August, which brings hordes of tourists during the Obon holiday period. This city offers beautiful nature and outdoor thrills all year round, like white water rafting, surfing, exploring local sake brewery, or trekking.

In Awa Jurobe Yashiki (Puppet Theater and Museum), Awa Ningyo Joruri, which is designated as a national important intangible folk-culture asset, is performed every day. “Keisei Awa no Naruto (a tragedy of Tokushima)” is one of the popular puppet plays performed here.

Tokushima Prefectural Museum is a prefectural museum in Tokushima, Japan, dedicated to the nature, archaeology, history, folklore, and art of Tokushima Prefecture. It first opened in 1959 and reopened in new premises in 1990.

Awaodori Kaikan

The Awa Odori Hall is a museum in the city of Tokushima where visitors can learn about Awa Odori, watch displays of the dance and sample local products. It is located at the base of the 280m-high Mount Bizan.
