Noboribetsu
In a country that is home to over 3,000 hot springs, that's a considerable achievement. Noboribetsu is arguably the best therapeutic hot spring waters in Japan, it is Japan's most famous hot spring resort. The reason for Noboribetsu's successful hot springs? Jigokudani, or "Hell Valley", a phenomenal volcanic valley situated just above the town, which is the source of its outstanding thermal waters - and rumoured to be inhabited by "oni", Japanese ogres or demons!
Earth Cape
The precipitous cliff on the Pacific Ocean coast of Muroran City stands at about 100m and goes on for a length of 14km. It’s known as a splendid scenic spot with Cape Chikyu also being such a spot.
Taisho Jigoku
Taisho Jigoku is a hot geyser, 10 meters in circumference, which emerged during the Taisho period (1912-26) as the result of a small explosion. Recently, the geyser responsible for the periodic changes in water level has become increasingly active at the back of the pool.

Tessen-ike
Tessen-ike is a hot steam “hell-pool” which gurgles and emits boiling water. At this small geyser, located close to the centre of Jigokudani, you can see the rising steam and boiling water at close quarters.
