Hakodate

The picturesque city of Hakodate that the third largest population in Hokkaido is renowned for its delectable seafood and splendid night views, also its historical background. Its location at the southern tip of Hokkaido makes it a convenient base for exploring the abundance of nature nearby. Fort Goryokaku

Hachimanzaka

Hachiman zaka is well known for its gorgeous view of the city and was named after the Hakodate Hachiman Shrine, which was relocated to Yachigashira.

Motomachi

Motomachi, at the foot of Mount Hakodate, became a district favored among the new foreign residents.

Kanemori Red Brick Warehouse (stores)

The retro brick building holds stores that sell sweets, groceries, accessories, knick-knacks, etc. An electrical appliance store, LAOX, and a samurai goods store are popular.

Hakodate Orthodox Church

Hakodate Orthodox Church is Japan's oldest Russian Orthodox Church and has been recognized by the Japanese government as an Important Cultural Property.

Hakodate Park

Hakodate Park is one of Japan's first ever Western style parks, it features several hundreds of cherry trees around its paths, fountain and mini zoo.

Hakodate Bay Area

There are some old red brick warehouses in the Hakodate Bay Area. These warehouses are the Kanamori Soko Warehouses built in the early 20th century and have been known as the landmark of the bay area of Hakodate. Now they house a number of restaurants and shops, and visitors enjoy shopping and eating.
