Miyajima
A small island less than an hour outside the city of Hiroshima with most famous for its giant torii gate which at high tide seems to float on the water, it is ranked as one of Japan's top three views. Best enjoyed by staying overnight at one of the island's ryokan on this romantic island.

The centuries-old Itsukushima Shrine on Miyajima is the source of both the island's fame and its name.
Senjokaku Hall
Senjokaku is the common name of Hokoku Shrine. The name describes the spaciousness of the building, as Senjokaku is in fact approximately the size of one thousand tatami mats. The hall, which dates back to 1587, is located on a small hill just beside Itsukushima Shrine.
The Five-Storied Pagoda
The Five Story Pagoda on Miyajima island is a stunning vermilion masterpiece. Built in 1407, the pagoda reflects construction techniques typically associated with Zen Buddhism. Located to the left of the giant torii gate and atop a hill, the pagoda soars high into the sky.
Daisho-in Temple
Daisho-in features a variety of buildings, statues and other religious objects for visitors to admire.
Omotesando shopping street
Omotesando shopping street is the busiest place in Miyajima for souvenior shops and restaurants. This area was formed from land reclaimed at the end of the Edo period. This area became the main street during the Showa period, as the area developed economically. Both sides of the street are packed with souvenir shops and restaurants.
Momijidani Park
Momijidani Park is one of the most famous maple leaves valley parks in Japan. The park is located at the foot of Mt. Misen, along Momijidani River, behind Itsukushima Shrine in Miyajima, Hatsukaichi, Hiroshima.
Miyajima Ropeway
Miyajima Ropeway refers to Japanese aerial lift lines in Hatsukaichi, Hiroshima. This is the only route Hiroshima Tourism Promoting operates. The company is a subsidiary of Hiroshima Electric Railway. The route, consisted of two lines, climbs Mount Misen of Miyajima Island. It opened in 1959.
Mount Misen
On clear days, Mount Misen affords spectacular views of the Seto Inland Sea and as far as Hiroshima City.
Miyajima Traditional Crafts Center
This is the place where you can learn the history and traditions of Miyajima through hands-on experiences. Visiters can see and buy displays of traditional Miyajima handicrafts at there. You can try making Momiji Manju; create your own Shakushi& Miyajima-bori Carving as well.
Miyajima Municiple History and Folklore Museum
This former merchant's Edo period mansion has been converted into a museum. The main building, the storehouse and the special exhibition hall display approximately 2,000 historical items collected with the cooperation of the community. The museum opened in 1974.
