Uji
Uji is a small city situated between Kyoto and Nara, two of Japan's most famous historical and cultural centers. Byodoin

Ujigami Shrine
Ujigami Shrine was recognized as a UWWHS in 1994 together with other shrines and temples. The main hall is built in the nagare-zukuri architectural style: a curved asymmetrical roof extends out more on the side of the main entrance than on the opposite side to provide shelter for worshipers.
The Tale of Genji Museum
It displays the world of the early 11th century Japanese classic novel The Tale of Genji with projected images, models, and exhibitions. The culture of the Imperial Court of the Heian period, the aristocrats' costumes, and the furnishings of their residences are shown.
Uji River
The Uji River ( Ujigawa) flows through town, dividing Uji into two parts. Its prominent position shapes the beautiful landscape of the town and provides opportunities for repose and recreation. Most of the city's attractions are within short walks from the river.

Ujibashi Bridge
Uji Bridge is thought to have been originally built sometime in the 7th century and is counted among the oldest bridges in Japan. A small protrusion off one side of the bridge known as san-no-ma offers great views.
Nakanoshima Rose Garden
The Nakanoshima Park is the first public park opened by Osaka in 1891, after its foundation as a city. It is located in Kita ward, on the Nakanoshima sandbank, lying between Dōjima and Tosabori Rivers.
Mimurotoji Temple
Mimurotoji is a temple in the northern hills of Uji City, founded about 1200 years ago. It is also known as the "flower temple", as its wide temple grounds offer large gardens of some varieties of seasonal flowers.
Uji City Botanical Park
The biggest 3D flower bed in Japan. Inside is a rolling plain where visitors can walk around and enjoy different sections that are each dedicated to each season;autumn leaves in the Autumn Zone, flowers and seasonal flowers in the Spring Zone, and Oguraike-originated flowers in the Summer Zone.

To honour Uji's role in the novel “The Tale of Genji”, the city is marked by statues and plaques that indicate locations where the novel's events occurred.
