Kyoto

Kyoto is a city located in the central part of the island of Honshu. It attracts millions of local and international visitors each year looking for traditional Japanese culture, because of formerly the imperial capital of Japan for more than one thousand years, it is now the capital city of Kyoto Prefecture located in the Kansai region, as well as a major part of the Kyoto-Osaka-Kobe metropolitan area, and It is quite rare that one city abounds so many UNESCO sites.

One of Kyoto’s most overlooked and most affordable hidden gems, the Kyoto Botanical Gardens is a must-visit for both visitors and locals alike.

Keage Incline

A short rail system was constructed here to move boats over the change in level between Biwako Canal and the canal along Niomon-Dori. These days it is a tourist attraction, especially when the cherry trees are blooming in spring.

Kodaiji Temple

Kodaiji belongs to the Rinzai sect of Zen Buddhism. Its main buildings were constructed in the lavish style of the era of Japan's unification with the financial support of Hideyoshi's successor Tokugawa Ieyasu. They feature richly decorated interiors and are surrounded by beautiful Zen gardens.

Hozu-gawa River Boat Ride

Hozu-gawa River that reflects four seasons of Japan on the surface of the clean water. Taking a boat ride down the Hozugawa River from Kameoka to Arashiyama would be a marvelous experience.

Daigoji Temple

Daigoji is a temple complex with many cherry trees southeast of central Kyoto, where Hideyoshi held a famous hanami party in the 16th century. Some outstanding weeping cherry trees stand on the grounds of the Reihokan Museum and in front of the Sanboin.
