Akita Museum of Art
is an art museum in the city of Akita. The original Akita Prefectural Museum of Art was opened on May 5, 1967. The new museum was opened on September 28, 2013. The main exhibit is a collection of works by Tsuguharu Foujita from the collection of the Masakichi Hirano Art Foundation.
Akita city Minzoku Geinou Densho-kan
is a cultural museum located about at 15-minute walk away from Akita Station. The museum was made in 1992 to preserve and share Akita prefecture’s unique culture. Here, you can learn about the history of Akita prefecture, and watch special movies about the culture.
Kubota Castle
Now there is a little castle at Senshu park called Kubota castle. Satake was on the side of Ishida Mitsunari who lost the war. When you visit here, it makes you wonder how he lived after war.
Senshu Park
Here at Senshu Park you can find the remains of Kubota Castle built by the Satake family, which was forced to relocate there from Hitachi. You can take a leisurely stroll while enjoying the seasonal scenery, including the cherry blossoms in the spring and the red leaves in autumn.
The Akarenga Folk Museum
The Akarenga Folk Museum is a Western-style building (designated as important cultural asset by Japanese government) built at the end of the Meiji era to serve as the then headquarters of Akita Bank.
Port Tower Selion
Akita City Port Tower Selion is 143 meters high. The tower provides a 360-degree panoramic view of the Sea of Japan, Oga Peninsula, and Mt. Chokai from a height of 100 meters.
Tsuru-no-yu Onsen
