8 Days - the Footsteps of Ancient Egyptian Tour

Egypt, a mysterious and legendary land

To visit the ancient wonders of Egypt is to follow a path carved out through millennia by the Greeks, Romans, Medieval pilgrims, Egyptologists and, now, travelers.

Visitors to Egypt are drawn to witness the rise and fall of Ancient Egypt civilizations. It is one of the four ancient civilizations in the word. The ancient Egyptian civilization refers to the history of the Tassa culture from 5000 BC to the Arab conquest of Egypt in 641 AD from the first waterfall to the delta of the Nile. In more than 3000 years, they built huge pyramids, obelisks, temples and tombs. These temples and tombs provided the secrets of the pharaohs (Egyptian kings and queens) and the gods they worshiped. It also created an advanced medical system in the world at that time. The Ancient Egypt civilizations  exerted a huge influence on later civilizations such as Ancient Greece, ancient Rome, and Judea.

Beyond the astonishing antiquities, it’s a magical country that swirls with myth, legend and mysticism.

Best Places to Visit in Egypt

Egypt welcomes you with its mighty Nile and magnificent monuments, the beguiling desert and lush delta, as well as its welcome people. Follow the steps of its history, let's show you the real Egypt now.

Cairo

【Egyptian Museum】

One of the world’s most important collections of ancient artefacts, the Egyptian Museum takes pride of place in Downtown Cairo, on the north side of Midan Tahrir. To walk around the museum is to embark on an adventure through time. Inside the great domed, oddly pinkish building, the glittering treasures of Tutankhamun and other great pharaohs lie alongside the grave goods, mummies, jewellery, eating bowls and toys of Egyptians whose names are lost to history.

【Giza Pyramids & The Great Sphinx 】

The last remaining wonder of the ancient world; for nearly 4000 years, the extraordinary shape, impeccable geometry and sheer bulk of the Giza Pyramids have invited the obvious questions: ‘How were we built, and why?’. Centuries of research have given us parts of the answer. Built as massive tombs on the orders of the pharaohs, they were constructed by teams of workers tens-of-thousands strong. Today they stand as an awe-inspiring tribute to the might, organisation and achievements of ancient Egypt.

Right beside the Pyramid,  this sculpture of a man with the haunches of a lion was dubbed the Sphinx by the ancient Greeks because it resembled their mythical winged monster who set riddles and killed anyone unable to answer them. A geological survey has shown that it was most likely carved from the bedrock at the bottom of the causeway during Khafre’s reign, so it probably portrays his features.

【Old Cairo】

Old Cairo is a historic area in Cairo, Egypt, which includes the site of a Roman-era fortress and of Islamic-era settlements pre-dating the founding of Cairo proper  in AD 969. It is also considered part of what is referred to as "Historic Cairo" or "Islamic Cairo", and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

【Khan el Khalili Market】

The skinny lanes of Khan Al Khalili are basically a medieval-style mall. This agglomeration of shops – many arranged around small courtyards – stocks everything from soap powder to semiprecious stones, not to mention tacky toy camels and alabaster pyramids. Most shops and stalls open from around 9am to well after sundown (except Friday morning and Sunday).

Luxor

【Valley of the Kings】

The west bank of Luxor had been the site of royal burials since around 2100 BC, but it was the pharaohs of the New Kingdom period (1550–1069 BC) who chose this isolated valley dominated by the pyramid-shaped mountain peak of Al Qurn (The Horn). Once called the Great Necropolis of Millions of Years of Pharaoh, or the Place of Truth, the Valley of the Kings has 63 magnificent royal tombs.

【Luxor and Karnak Temple】

Karnak is an extraordinary complex of sanctuaries, kiosks, pylons and obelisks dedicated to the Theban triad but also to the greater glory of pharaohs. The site covers more than 2 sq km; it's large enough to contain about 10 cathedrals.

Luxor Temple is a strikingly graceful monument in the heart of the modern town. Also known as the Southern Sanctuary, its main function was during the annual Opet celebrations, when the statues of Amun, Mut and Khonsu were brought from Karnak, along the Avenue of Sphinxes, and reunited here during the inundation.

【Luxor Market】

Take the chance and visit luxor that has the charming nature , the historical sites and the shopping at Luxor Market.

Aswan

【Philae temple】

Perched on the island of Philae (fee-leh), the Temple of Isis attracted pilgrims for thousands of years and was one of the last pagan temples to operate after the arrival of Christianity.

【Unfinished Obelisk】

Aswan was the source of ancient Egypt’s finest granite, used to make statues and embellish temples, pyramids and obelisks. The large unfinished obelisk in the Northern Quarries has provided valuable insight into how these monuments were created, although the full construction process is still not entirely clear. Three sides of the shaft, nearly 42m long, were completed except for the inscriptions. At 1168 tonnes, the completed obelisk would have been the single heaviest piece of stone the Egyptians ever fashioned.

【Nubian Villag】

A trip to the Nubian Village on Elephantine Island, located in the Nile River near Aswan, is a fun way to relax and soak up some of the region’s fascinating past. the village houses are painted with various color patterns which made it a fairytale place.  The Nubians who lives in this village were an ethnic group coming from southern Egypt and northern Sudan, who during the course of history started a number of settlements along the Nile River. They were famous for their horse riding skills and their impressive marksmanship with bows and arrows. It is a lovely place to visit since it offers visitors an ideal opportunity to learn the cultural and its people.

【Nile river】

The Nile, the longest river in the world, the mother river of Egypt. The length of the Nile River in Egypt is 1530 kilometers,3-16 kilometers in wide.  it divides into two tributaries  from   Cairo and flows into the Mediterranean at end. The Nile Delta formed by the alluvial tributaries is the most densely populated and richest area in Egypt. Almost all water sources in Egypt come from the Nile River.
The clear river water, the oasis along the coast and the sand dunes at behind make up the unique scenery of the Nile. If you want to enjoy the beauty of the entire Nile, the general way to browse is to take a  river cruise. The most common route is from Aswan  to Luxor. During the trip, you can not only enjoy the sunrise of the Nile on the cruise, but also visit  the famous sights on the bank of the Nile River, such as the Temple of Horus,  Valley of the Kings, Karnak and Luxor Temple...
Another way to visit the Nile is to take the Felucca, Egypt’s ancient transportation on the river.

【Abu Simbel Temples】

Overlooking Lake Nasser, the Great Temple of Ramses II and the Temple of Hathor, which together make up the Temples of Abu Simbel, are among the most famous and spectacular monuments in Egypt. In a modern marvel of engineering, which matches Ramses II's original construction for sheer audacity, the temple complex was saved from being swallowed by rising waters and lost forever after the building of the High Dam, by being moved lock, stock and barrel to the position it sits upon today.

【Temple of Horus】

This Ptolemaic temple, built between 237 and 57 BC, is one of the best-preserved ancient monuments in Egypt. Preserved by desert sand, which filled the place after the pagan cult was banned. With its roof intact, it is also one of the most atmospheric of ancient buildings.

The temple is dedicated to Horus, he is a symbol of kingship and the patron saint of Pharaoh; the avenging son of Isis and Osiris. and the husband of Hathor,  goddess of the sky, of women, and of fertility and love.

Every March, the Horus Temple will hold a grand ceremony to greet the god Hathor. The priests transfer the statue of Hathor with sailboats to Edfu to meet her husband, the god of Horus .

Why choose private tour service in Egypt?

So you have finally decided to travel to Egypt, you have got your date figued out, listed the attractions you wish to visit and searched the hotel you are interested, you even have an idea what food you need to try. but before that, I would like to talk about getting a private tour guide in Egypt.

We have heard many stories of traveling in Egypt by yourself, there are good and bad ones. a private tour guide will save you from chaos and exhaust, make sure your journey in Egypt is  relaxing, full filled and memorable.

● You will learn so much more

you may know a lot about ancient Egypt from the book or internet, and maybe you don’t consider yourself to be a big ‘museum’ person. However, having a guide is so much more than having someone to show you around. he will show you hidden things you never would find on your own, explain in detail what exactly you are looking at, and share some of the most incredible stories, many of which you have never heard before.

if you are first time visit in Egypt, then you will learn a lot from him. every licenced tour guide is an "Egyptology" who is knowledgeable of Ancient Egypt.

● Optimized Tour Times and Itineraries

One of the best things about going with a private tour guide is that you can make your own schedule. There’s no need to wait for others. A private guide means earlier start to a famous temple before crows come,  or later return to enjoy the sunset scenery on desert. A private tour guide will arrange your entrance tickets and deal all the Chores to release you from line and waiting, so you can visit more attractions nearby.   they can probably offer some insight on the best time to take the photos and some unique vantage points.

● Custumized tour itinerary

this is your vacation, and you wish to take control of it. you may be a History buffs,  and wish to visit only Musuems, Temples and historical sites and love to hear stories and inside history; you may be a photographer and would rather spend longer at a single location to get your perfect shots in the perfect light. you may travel with kids and wish they are educated through the journey, with a private tour guide, all of these can be achieved.

● Private tour guide service is afforable in Egypt

The problem with the term ‘private guide’ is that people usually associate it as coming with a pretty hefty price tag. In many places around the world, it is true. However, not so much in Egypt. Egypt is an incredibly affordable travel destination where you truly can find luxury on a budget, and having a professional, private guide for your Egypt tours is an example. Hiring a private guide in Egypt is about the same price as joining a group tour somewhere in Europe. That’s definitely a bargain.
