After a morning arrival in Perth, transfer to your hotel before a tour of the city, including the chance to admire the Swan River from Kings Park, one of the largest inner-city parks in the world.
Leaving Perth, travel to Wave Rock to marvel at the astonishing rock formations that were born from granite more than 3 million years ago. Continue on through the former ghost town of Coolgardie until you reach the town of Kalgoorlie, a mining town surrounded by many smaller ghost towns left in the area’s goldfields.
See the many unique buildings around the town before joining a local guide for a gold mine tour. On leaving Kalgoorlie to head for Esperance, pause to admire Lake Lefroy, the impressive salt lake used for many Australian land speed record attempts in the past.
Enjoy astonishing views of the granite peaks and coastal scenery on a visit to Cape Le Grand National Park before travelling to Thistle Cove and Lucky Bay – the latter being of the most beautiful of the many bays to feature on the Australia coast. If you’re lucky, you may witness grey kangaroos lazing on the beach before visiting Pink Lake, so called because of the distinctive colouring it can take on depending on saline levels. The remainder of the afternoon is then free.
Travel through Ravensthorpe and Jerramungup as you head for the lookout at Bluff Knoll Lookout, which grants you the opportunity to admire the rugged beauty and rich flora of the Stirling Ranges National Park. Continue on to Albany for your overnight stay.
The day starts with a visit to Torndirrup National Park, with its impressive granite formations, including the Gap and the Natural Bridge. After calling in at Whaleworld to learn more about the history of the Albany area, your onward journey takes you into the Valley of the Giants where you can enjoy the chance to walk through the forest canopy on a treetop walk. Your overnight stay is in the wine growing region of Margaret River.
After a drive through the Peppermint trees of the Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park, explore the ancient fossil remains to be found in the Margaret River Caves and see the historic Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse, located where the Indian and Southern oceans meet at the most south-westerly point of the country. A tour, tasting and lunch at the 3 Oceans Wine Company is the pre-cursor to a free afternoon to explore the local area.
Head north to Freemantle for an Included Choice experience during the afternoon. Discover the heritage of the area on a guided walking tour, explore the Western Australia Maritime Museum or see the sights onboard a replica tram.
After time at leisure, enjoy a walking tour that will allow you to visit the Round House – one of the oldest buildings in Western Australian - before learning how Swan River forms part of the Dreaming Stories of the local aboriginal people. Then cruise along the river to Perth for your transfer to the airport and journey home.
